I have owned this house for about a year and a couple of months right now. It was a project and we did not move in to the place until we had been renovating it for nearly three months. We still do not have all of the things we need to do. Right now the priority is to replace the walk ways which goes half of the way across the front of the house and the back of the house. I have been talking to a couple of sidewalk contractors in Bronx NY and most of my conversations have involved the cost and difficulty of the demolition job you shall have to do prior to replacing the walk ways. You obviously can not just lay down a well functioning piece of concrete on top of these things and at any rate that would bring you up way above the level of the ground in the front yard and the back yard. You would end up having to come in with a big load of dirt and even out the situation, then fix the grass or plant something else to hold the grass. I am curious as to whether or not it makes much sense for me to try to do the demolition by myself. I am not physically the biggest guy you ever saw, but I am not petite either and I am in pretty good shape. I sort of wonder how much time it would take for me to do this if I went to the rental place and got a jack hammer. It obviously would not be a barrel of laughs, but for example I am thinking that I could do the back on a Saturday and then do the front on a Sunday. I am sure the neighbors would be less than pleased, but they would mostly understand.
