When my grandparents decided to sell their home, they had to decide what to do with a lot of their possessions. They had lived in the same house for nearly 50 years, so they had accumulated quite a bit of things. Some, like the sofa and bedroom set, would go to the small condo that they purchased. I had heard of a self storage company – Store Friendly – that is close to where they bought their new condo, so I decided to see how accessible it would be for them. It is less than two miles from where they now live, so I decided to inquire even further to see if this was a viable option for their storage needs.
The issue of storage came into play because they have so many different things, and they wanted to make sure that everyone had their fair shot at whatever they wanted. This wasn’t something planned well in advance though. Someone made an offer on their home, and it was too good to pass up. They had purchased their new condo within weeks of that. So, they needed a storage place for all of their possessions not going to the new condo until they could sort everything out.
They have seven children, including my mom, but most of them are super busy with careers and families. Two of my aunts don’t even live in Singapore at the moment. When I found out that the storage facility would not cost very much on a monthly basis, I suggested it to my grandparents, and they thought it was a brilliant idea. They had been pondering about their options, yet neither of them had touched on this. They were able to get one of the larger units, and several of my cousins and I moved everything in there once they took what they wanted for their condo. They can walk here and get things they need, and slowly the pile is dwindling down. It really was the perfect solution.
